International energy monitoring and management firm Best.Energy is to relocate its head office to Bristol from Cornwall as it looks to expand its research & development and energy analysis operations.

The firm, founded in 2006, expects to double its headcount to 120 this year as it continues to expand on the back of increased demand from business for services linked to energy efficiency and net zero.

Best.Energy, currently based in St Austell and with an office in Malaysia, works with an international network of more than 100 partners to help businesses lower their energy use.

It originally concentrated mainly on the quick service restaurant and food retail sectors, but recently has expanded to work with energy-intensive businesses across different industries in need of energy management and monitoring.

Its global reach now stretches across over 2.1bn data points processed every day, with achievements including installing its Eniscope technology into 120 7-Eleven convenience stores in Denmark, saving 2.7m kWh of energy, and partnering with 105 KFC sites in Malaysia, producing on average 18% of energy savings.

Best.Energy CEO and co-founder Troy Wrigley, pictured, said the firm had chosen to move to its new base on Bristol Business Park in Stoke Gifford to take advantage of the city’s “atmosphere of innovation”.

He said the firm wanted to become part of Bristol’s tech and sustainability scene after outgrowing its first commercial space in St Austell.

“We are tremendously excited about our move to Bristol and to find ourselves in a community of like-minded green and innovative businesses,” he said.

“The next step of Best.Energy’s evolution requires finding the best and brightest talent to double our headcount in 2022.

“I love it when our people tell me they wake up thinking ‘I’m going to do some good today’ – that’s the passion that we have. To help businesses make real and substantial savings and to reduce the use of carbon, leading to a more sustainable future for us all.”

He said the firm’s significant recent growth had been driven by the move to carbon net zero and rising energy costs, which were now substantially impacting commercial customers.

Best.Energy describes itself as being on a mission to demonstrate that energy efficiency is the cheapest, cleanest and most accessible method for businesses to reduce both their carbon footprint and their utility bills.

Its state-of-the-art energy monitoring and management technology, Eniscope Air, uses the Internet of Things, Big Data and Automated Intelligence to give organisations the power to map out their energy usage in granular, asset-level detail – then target and execute savings remotely from the Cloud.
