Bristol-headquartered law firm Bevan Brittan has donated £5,000 to St Peter’s Hospice, the city charity that cares for adults with life-limiting illnesses.

The donation is part of a total of £20,000 the firm is giving nationally to charities this Christmas across its four office locations, which also include Leeds, Birmingham and London.

sum is the equivalent to the amount saved by sending eCards instead of posting out physical Christmas cards.

Bevan Brittan teams based in Bristol have been raising money for St Peter’s Hospice throughout this year through fundraising activities including a silent auction, bake sales and dress-down days.

St Peter’s Hospice aims to improve the quality of patients’ living and dying while extending care and support to their families and loved ones.

It provides physical, psychological and spiritual care for patients in their own homes as well as at the hospice. The charity also teaches other healthcare professionals how to care for people at the end of their lives.

St Peter’s Hospice corporate fundraising manager Louise Turner said: “We were really overwhelmed and excited when we received the news that Bevan Brittan were donating such a large amount of money.

“Serious illness and end-of-life care does not stop during the festive period. Our In-patient unit remains fully open and our community nursing teams also visit patients in their own homes over Christmas.

“This generous donation will help us to pay for that vital care that we give to patients every single day, including symptom and pain control. We are so grateful to Bevan Brittan for making it at this difficult time of year.”

Bevan Brittan head of Bristol Office Rosemary Jago added: “As a firm, we want to make a difference to the communities we work in. We are delighted to continue our support for St Peter’s Hospice, a charity that plays such a vital role with people at the end of their lives, as well as their families.

“There is a strong culture of fundraising and giving among our people in Bristol that not only supports St Peter’s Hospice, but also several other charities.

“It is a great pleasure to be able to make this donation at Christmas – and to thank everyone involved for their considerable efforts. I hope this will go some way towards helping those in need of support.”

Bevan Brittan employs more than 230 legal professionals and support staff in its Bristol office, including 28 partners.
