5G ‘supercharger’ lands £5.7m investment with support from Stephenson Law

Bristol-based alternative law firm Stephenson Law has advised on a £5.7m investment deal for a firm aiming to harness the power of 5G to revolutionise gaming, the Internet of Things and virtual reality.

The Series A investment round for AccelerComm was led by Cambridge-based IQ Capital alongside existing investors Bloc Ventures and IP Group. 

Southampton-based AccelerComm has developed breakthrough technology that supercharges 5G through optimisation and latency reduction.

Based on more than 15 years of research, the technology aims to deliver on the 5G promise of a low-latency, high-throughput experience to drive new revenue opportunities for a variety of operators, including those in the gaming, IoT and VR spaces.

It does this through a combination of ‘channel coding’ technologies designed to improve hardware efficiency and correct errors in the decoding process, so overcoming the effects of noise, interference and poor signal strength.

The firm was named in the EE Times Silicon 100 list of emerging electronics and semiconductor start-ups to watch from across Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.
