Specialist wholesaler Chapple & Jenkins is embarking on an ambitious expansion after securing a £1.1m funding package from Barclays.

The fast-growing firm has already used the finance to buy a 1.79-acre site next to its existing 30,000 sq ft warehouse on Station Road, Kingswood, pictured

It now plans to build additional container storage on the site to increase capacity and create efficiencies to meet growing customer demand.

Founded in 2008, the firm supplies drinks, confectionery and catering products to a wide range of organisations including schools and colleges, local authorities, hotels, catering businesses and festivals.

It operates across a region stretching from Bristol to Birmingham and from Reading to the Welsh valleys and has chalked up double-digit growth over recent years, most recently achieved an annual turnover of over £17m. It now employs 75 people.

Chapple & Jenkins director Martin Jenkins said: “I’m proud of how far the business has come in such a relatively short space of time. Our objective is to provide our customers with great brands and the best customer experience in terms of service, range and price.

“We’re pleased that Barclays has worked closely with us and continue to be supportive of our ambitious growth plans.”

Barclays Bristol relationship director Martin Crook added: “Chapple & Jenkins has achieved significant success and has built a great reputation within the wholesale trade.  “I’ve have been working with Martin and the wider team for some time now to see how we can support the firm’s growth and provide the facilities to take them to the next chapter for their business.

“Barclays is committed to using our industry expertise to support such propositions, which are vital to a prosperous local economy and we wish the firm every success in the future.”

Chapple & Jenkins’ product range spans crisps and biscuits, alcoholic drinks and tea to disposable cups and plates and catering equipment.
